01 / The challenge

Strong signal outside.
Missed calls downstairs.

The rooftop had strong cellular service. The lower level had very little usable coverage.

At this public-facing community centre, missed calls and unreliable voice service affected the team’s ability to communicate. The solution needed to serve a mixed carrier population, rather than a single provider.

“Calls were not being received due to having no service, including outgoing calls. When on calls, it was difficult to communicate due to the lack of service.”

02 / The solution

The right spectrum.
Right where it was needed.

The important part was not simply adding gain. Fusion Ultra 5G is described in the case study as Canada’s only eight-band commercial cell signal booster, supporting all major Canadian carriers.

That includes AWS-3 and Band 7—mid-band spectrum conventional commercial boosters leave behind. It made the system a clear fit for the carrier mix at this Mississauga site.

  • Strong rooftop donor signal to work with
  • Eight-band coverage for major Canadian networks
  • More RF power at each indoor antenna, reducing cable, installation time and disruption

03 / The installation

A one-day deployment.
A smaller hardware footprint.

Extendacell Technologies installed and commissioned the complete system in one day. High-gain rooftop donor antennas captured the strong outdoor signals, while the compact design reduced installation labour and complexity.

Two independent downlink ports fed the indoor antennas directly, avoiding splitter loss and preserving more power at each coverage point. Approximately 25,000 sq ft of lower-level space was covered with minimal hardware, cabling and disruption.

From the installer

“Fusion Ultra 5G gave us the coverage and carrier-band support the customer needed—approximately 25,000 square feet from only two indoor antennas—in a straightforward system we could install in one day. Faster installations and lower costs mean better value for the client.”

04 / Technical details

Built for the Canadian spectrum in use.

The eight-band architecture amplified the carrier spectrum actually in use, including AWS-3 and Band 7. Dedicated low-band and directional mid-band donor antennas captured the appropriate spectrum.

The directional mid-band antenna helped deliver stronger RSRQ and service quality in the urban RF environment.

What does RSRQ mean?

RSRQ stands for Reference Signal Received Quality: a measure of cellular signal quality, rather than signal strength alone.

AWS-115 MHz—5 MHz
AWS-320 MHz20 MHz15 MHz
Band 740 MHz20 MHz10 MHz

Local profiling confirmed that AWS-3 and Band 7 were prevalent around the building. The case study notes that these are often carrier-preferred frequencies in Canada; amplifying them helps deliver a more stable, reliable coverage solution.

05 / The result

Connection,
restored.

No reported incoming or outgoing call issues after installation.

“Since the installation, there has been no reported issues with our team regarding incoming/outgoing calls. Everything has been flowing seamlessly.”
